Maposua - Worthy of a Chief

When members of our family commissioned this piece for our oldest brother-in-law, we knew we had to pull out all stops in order to craft a piece worthy of the love and respect we all have for him. This was a legacy birthday gift and was commissioned to capture his Samoan roots and ancestry.

Crafted in heavy silver, with the intention of being worn all day, everyday; elements and patterns borrowed from the sacred Samoan Tatau tradition were engraved using deep relief engraving around the front face of the solid wide band. As a quiet yet significant nod to his cliefly title, Paul engraved "Maposua" on the inside of the band where it sits loud and proud.

In an extended family consisting mostly of women, Maposua is deeply respected and loved by every generation - past and present. We love seeing the pride he takes in wearing his ring. We polish it lovingly, each time it needs sprucing up and return it to him, only to be rewarded with the brightest of smiles! Legacy jewellery pieces are a valuable way of celebrating those we love. Each time we receive a commission for one such piece it feels like a sacred entrusting and we pour our heart and soul into designing and crafting each piece.
