The Heart of the Studio

Paul Greenfield is a New Zealand-born, Samoan-Australian jeweller, raised in South Auckland as the youngest of five. His identity as 'afakasi — of mixed Samoan heritage — runs through everything he crafts, an inheritance of culture and values passed down through his Pasifika roots that sit at the very heart of Stasita.

His path into jewellery began in 1989, as a trainee diamond setter at Anvil Jeweller. It didn't take long for his eye for design and accuracy to reveal itself alongside the technical skill — a combination that would go on to shape the rest of his career. He went on to become a trade-certified diamond setter and manufacturing jeweller.  Across more than three decades, Paul has lent his setting skills to some of New Zealand's most respected jewellery houses, working across nearly every gem setting technique, in precious and semi-precious stones alike.

What sets Paul's work apart is the way innovation and handwork sit side by side. He keeps pace with modern, innovative technique and technology to keep his designs contemporary — but every piece is still finished entirely by hand, the part of the process that carries his signature Stasita touch.

Paul is as well known for his generosity as he is for his skill. The jewellery houses that return to him do so not only for the quality of his setting, but for how easy — and how warm — he is to work alongside. This same generosity led him to start running his own gem setting trainings in Auckland, allowing him to pass his craft on to a new generation of setters. Paul brings GRS-accredited training to gem setters across New Zealand and Australia, in partnership with Australian Jewellery Services.

Stasita is proudly Pasifika-owned — one of only a few boutiques of its kind serving both Aotearoa and Australia — and it's a genuinely family-led business. From administration and design through to creative direction, everyone on our close-knit team brings the same commitment to quality, working from the values Paul has carried since the beginning: Love, Trust, and Loyalty.

Our work is personal. Our clients are aiga. Whether it's a commissioned piece or a skill passed on at the bench, we bring your vision to life — one handcrafted piece at a time.
